Chemical Peels India
Chemical peels are usually purified fruit acids or lab synthesized helpful chemicals. They improve the skin’s appearance. In this treatment, the solution applied to the skin works upon the layers of skin as targeted, shedding it off. Working in synergy with vitamins to promote cell renewal, the new skin is usually more supple, lighter and smoother than the old skin.
Chemical peels are usually done on the face and neck but can be used on back, upper and lower limbs too. They can be used to:
- Decrease the extent of sun tanning _ gradually the tan fades away
- Decrease other pigmentation with due care which smoothes the mottled pigmentation look of your skin
- Lightens the freckles
- Reduces fine wrinkles and lines _thus benefits the aging skin
- Constricts the dilated pores on the skin _making the skin flawless
- Rejuvenates your skin more and more with each sitting
- Is helpful in decreasing fine Acne scars
- “Pre party Peel”, to get an instant glow for the much awaited Social Event.
Que. How do I choose a chemical peel?
Ans.
Our Chief Clinical Cosmetologist Dr Preeti Saraswat helps in making this decision based upon computerized examination of your skin by a tool known as “Dermascope” thus deciding the most appropriate type of treatment for you.
Usually light skinned people are better candidates for chemical peels. But dark skinned people can also benefit from the procedure with due care regarding priming procedure and after-care which is equally important for light skinned people too.
Very prominent grooves, frown or worry lines, crow’s feet lines ( at the corners of eyes) ,severe eye sags, jowls, marionette lines need other procedures too like thread lifts, face lifts, and so on.
Before You Get a Chemical Peel
Our Chief Clinical Cosmetologist Dr Preeti Saraswat inspects your skin under dermascope and performs a skin analysis too, to customize your treatment.
We may ask you to stop taking or applying some of the things you are using and prepare your skin by using other medications for priming of skin.
For ensuring best results we at Saraswat Hospital would work out meticulously what you require, what your expectations are and how do we go about it!!
After You Get the Chemical Peel
Skin temporarily becomes more sensitive to the sun, so you will have to apply sunscreen thrice a day i.e. at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. In Indian scenario its best to use a SPF of around 40-50. Limit your time in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and if possible wear a wide-brimmed hat, or cover your face with thick cotton cloth in the sun.
Common Queries regarding Peels
Que. What does a chemical peel do to my skin?
Ans.
Well! let me ask you to come with me to a mental ride— imagine a situation in which u take rest lying down , your eyes closed listening to a soothing music for a few times at a few months interval, taking good care of you for those months to find a smoother new skin after that period, wouldn’t you like it!! This is what chemical peel does, it peels off the upper layer of dull dead skin to bring fresh new skin from below ( in a patient with good skin colour and thickness with all parameters of safety the results are pretty good).
Que. What are two major types of peels?
Ans.
CHEMICAL PEELS
Alpha hydroxyl acid peels (AHA)
Primarily derived from fruits
Glycolic acid peel

Lactic Acid peel
Most mild acid, doing skin rejuvanation for dry, sensitive and lusture less skin.
Beta hydroxyl acid peel (BHA)
Salicylic acid peel

Done in different concentrations 20%, 35%, 50% and 70% it gives the desired effect . it gives an apparent impression of skin burn which is shed off in 8- 10 days.
Que. Are the chemical or laser peels safe for me?
Ans.
Our Chief Clinical Cosmetologist Dr Preeti Saraswat at Saraswat Hospital does your skin analysis and finds out the best procedure for each of you. Then we prime you for the procedure before actually performing it. We may also do a patch test i.e. apply the peel at a small area and watch the effect first before proceeding for the whole area.
Compromised kidneys, history of allergies, pregnacy are some of the contraindications.
We at Saraswat Hospital as per our personalized care policy offer it to the best candidates after full evaluation of skin type, condition & expectations.
We provide everything you need to protect yourselves after a peel with our “SMOOTH SKIN – HEALTHY HAIR” program, – sunscreens, antibiotic creams, moisturizers, and so on but you have to let the skin settle down, let it rest. Que. How many times do I get the procedure repeated?
Ans.
Depending upon the depth of peel – superficial and medium peels need to be repeated within a fortnight to month, enzyme peels within 10-15 days, deep peels after 3 to six months if at all.
Que. Duration of effects?
Ans.
Again depending upon the depth of peel effect may be seen within a few days to months and may last up to months or years together. Touch ups may be required for maintenance.
Micro Peels
Micro peels contain some of the gentlest ingredients available in a chemical peel. A Micro Peel is a solution that exfoliates skin, removing dead cells while promoting growth in the healthy layers underneath. The active ingredient varies by brand, but is usually glycolic or lactic acid. These acids are diluted to the point that they dissolve dead cells gently without damaging living tissue. For those with sensitive skin, Micro Peels are far less harsh than other chemical exfoliants. Your service provider at Saraswat Hospital can adjust the solution to suit your delicate skin.
Que. Which are the best skin care, anti-aging products for me?
