Dermal Fillers India
With increasing age, the Hyaluronic Acid content of our skin decreases, reducing its capacity to stay moist and supple. Oil producing glands reduce their activity and the skin becomes dry. Skin loses fat, thus losing its youthful glow and smoothness.
Fillers replace volume under the skin to fill wrinkles or enhance facial features.
Soft tissue fillers, also called dermal fillers, facial fillers, or simply “fillers”, are used to fill up defects in the soft tissues, typically wrinkles, folds and dents in the face. Some fillers are intended to add volume, for example to the cheekbone or the chin and are often used for lip enhancement.
Now we have the autologous fat fillers too which are non allergic, giving beautiful results.
There are many synthetic filler products in the market.
They can be non-permanent fillers, which disappear spontaneously after a while, and the permanent fillers, which stay embedded in the tissues forever.
Most non-permanent fillers are quite safe to use, but it is advisable to demand fillers that are generally accepted, or FDA approved, such as the ones based on hyaluronic acid, collagen and calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres.
We at Saraswat Hospital always discuss with you first about the type of filler which would suit you best.
Fillers are injected directly into the area to be treated, often after application of a topical anesthetic cream. The effect is immediate, and lasts between two to 24 months for synthetic products, depending on the type of product and the treated area.
It may sometimes be longer or shorter depending on:
- your age
- your physiology
- your lifestyle(smoking and exposure to sun or UV rays may shorten the effect)
- the amount injected and the practitioner’s technique
Autologous Fat Graft For Facial Contour Rejuvenation used as fillers.
Facial contour rejuvenation can be done by autologous fat transplantation. A total facial fat grafting can be done in various regions like brows, nasojugal fold, malar and buccal fat pads, nasolabial fold, lips and perioral region etc.
Why and how Autologous Fat Fraft can be used as filler?
Autologous fat tissue has been considered as ideal filler for soft tissue augmentation because it is biocompatible, versatile, stable, long lasting, natural-appearing, readily available, abundant, inexpensive and can be harvested easily and repeatedly with minimal trauma to the donor sites. The rising interest in the procedure has paralleled the development and popularity of liposuction for body contouring.
The donor site can be chosen according to the preference of the surgeon and the patient, mostly it is the abdomen or the medial thigh.
For successful, three dimensional sculpting we at Saraswat Hospital provide proper attention to patient preparation, meticulous planning and fastidious photographic evaluation.
The selection of an appropriate recipient site enhances ultimate fat graft survival. Fat is living tissue that must be in close proximity to a nutritional and respiratory source to survive.
Revascularization may take upto 21 days to reach the center of a microfat graft.
Pitfalls in Autologous Fat Transplantation
The most common disadvantage observed with autologous fat grafting in the in the face, gluteal area and breast area are edema and ecchymosis at the donor site for 6-10days and slight bruising at the injected areas for 3-5days. The volume of fat injected in secondary procedures is usually considerably less than that used at the original procedure. Touch up procedures are usually performed with local anesthesia and have less associated downtime.
The autologous fat fillers may decrease in bulk upto 30% in a few months and thus may require a minor second sitting but last forever.
How long will the procedure take?
The synthetic filler procedure takes just about 30-45 minutes, depending on the extent and area under consideration for injecting.
The autologous fat filler requires a bit longer time as the fat is processed after liposuction to nano fat and then injected. usually one and a half hour suffices.
How long will it take to show results?
Results with fillers are immediate and instant. Your aesthetic physician can show you the pre-treatment and post-treatment results soon after injecting the filler for you to appreciate the results. However, best results can be seen in 2-3 days for synthetic fillers and 4-6 wks in autologous fat fillers.
Any anaesthesia required?
Usually local cream or ice pack for synthetic fillers.
Local or general anaesthesia for autologous fat fillers.
When can I return to work and resume my social life?
After synthetic fillers – The aesthetic results are immediate and very natural looking. You might experience some redness and bruising after the injection, that can be concealed with makeup or concealers. You can return to work and resume your social life almost immediately.
After autologous fat grafting – redness and swelling may last for 4-5 days or so and then goes permanently.
You are advised not to apply pressure to, or massage the injected site during the first few days following the injection session. In the two weeks following treatment, we advise against prolonged exposure to temperatures under 0 degree C and to sun or strong heat (UV rays, saunas, steam, baths, etc.)
How much does the treatment cost?
This entirely depends on what treatment you are getting done, who is doing it, and how much of the product is required in case of synthetic fillers. It is best to discuss this with your aesthetic physician or cosmetic surgeon.
There is widespread consensus that, although they may seem appealing, permanent fillers are not to be recommended lightly as they sometimes induce adverse reactions which are very difficult if not totally impossible to treat without surgery. For all fillers, risks include irregularities or lumpiness, over- or under-correction, asymmetry and infection. Permanently visible lumps or late reactions with some permanent fillers can result.
Partial or complete correction of wrinkles and folds. (eg. Nasojugal fold, tear trough).
Enhancement of facial features.
Acne scars are taken good care of.
Volume to various areas like cheeck bones, chin, upper lip, lower lip etc.
In cases of autologous fat grafting as fillers – a very refreshing effect on the skin of the patient can also be appreciated better known as skin rejuvenation.
